Building Hope and Community at The Peoples Church: Join Us in Our Mission

At Church For The People, our mission is simple but profound: to be a place where everyone is welcomed, supported, and empowered. In a city as vibrant and challenging as Scranton, we believe that true faith is shown not just in words, but in action—especially when it comes to caring for our neighbors in need. *******A Table for All: Feeding Our Community Every week, our church opens its doors and our hearts to families and individuals facing food insecurity. Thanks to the dedication of our volunteers and the generosity of our partners, Church For The People food pantry has served over 2,000 meals in the past year alone. On average, we support 50 families each month, ensuring that children go to school with full bellies and parents can focus on building a better future. But our impact goes beyond numbers. Each box of groceries is delivered with a smile and a listening ear, because we know that nourishment is about more than food—it’s about dignity, hope, and belonging. ********After School, After Hope We’re also committed to building up the next generation. Our afterschool program provides a safe, nurturing space for local youth to learn, grow, and dream big. This year, we’ve welcomed 30 students into our program, offering tutoring, mentorship, and enrichment activities that help them thrive both academically and personally. **********Opening Doors to Opportunity Understanding that many in our community face barriers to employment, Church For The People has launched a job training initiative. Through resume workshops, interview preparation, and our professional clothing closet, we’ve helped dozens of job seekers take confident steps toward new opportunities. Already, 15 individuals have secured employment with our support—a testament to what’s possible when a community comes together. **********Why We Do What We Do Behind every statistic is a story: a child who can concentrate in school because they had a healthy breakfast, a parent who finds hope in a new job, a neighbor who feels seen and valued. At Church For The People, we believe our congregation grows strongest when we serve the people around us—body, mind, and spirit. Join Us—Be Part of the Story Whether you’re looking for a place to worship, a way to give back, or simply a community that cares, Church For The People is here for you. Together, we can continue to feed, help, and uplift Scranton—one meal, one family, and one story at a time. Want to get involved or need support? Visit us this Sunday or reach out anytime. There’s always a seat at our table—for you, and for everyone.
